Wendell Michael Poggie

Wendell Michael Poggie, 76, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away December 18, 2020 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

The graveside funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Vickers Cemetery in Havana, FL. Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and wear protective masks.

Wendell was born on January 10, 1944 in Havana, FL, the son of the late Foreste (Mike) Poggie and late Margret (Walsh) Poggie, he was a beloved son. He was a mentor to his children and friends. Wendell grew up as a "hard worker" and passed the trait along to his children and many others. He was a wonderful, devoted and loving father to Brian and Allison, as well as a great Papa to his grand-girls and looking forward to becoming a Papa for the third time very soon.

Wendell was a motorcycle enthusiast from an early age. He was the owner of The Cycle Shop in Tallahassee from 1965 until 2000. He developed and implemented a safety program for motorcyclists for the State of Florida. After his retirement, he spent time as a Flat Track Racer. Building his own motorcycles, he was on the national stage of Flat Track Racing. He was a member and leader of the American Motorcycle Association.

He is survived by his beloved partner /wife Joyce Phipps of Tallahassee; his son Brian Poggie (and wife Jenny) of Tallahassee. His daughter Allison Poggie Regan (husband Shawn) of Tallahassee. His two beautiful granddaughters Lily and Madison Poggie of Tallahassee. His loving sister Lorraine Poggie Dujanovic (husband Tom) of Alpharetta, GA.
