Sharon L. Coyne, 67, of Havana, FL, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
Mrs. Coyne was born on May 4, 1944, in Syracuse, NY to Steve and Shirley Southard. She graduated from North Syracuse High School and was married to Michael P. Coyne on October 10, 1964.
Michael and Sharon Coyne and their two sons, Stephen and Patrick, moved to Havana in 1980. Sharon was a licensed realtor and was associated with Davis Smith Realty and Linda Dix. She also worked with Family Dollar.
Sharon Coyne was one of the board members of the original and very successful "Old Time Havana Days." She was a very talented artist. She loved to quilt and applique was her specialty.
One of Sharon's many talents was sculpting miniature figures for doll houses. In 1992, Sharon was commissioned by John Zweifel to create most of the 1/2" scale figures for the 16X18 foot diorama of the "Building of the Presidents House" that he and a team of craftsmen had built. It was later displayed in the East Room of the White House and also the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, before traveling to many locations around the United States.
Sharon Coyne is survived by her husband, Michael Coyne of Havana; her two sons, Stephen Coyne of Orange Park, FL and Patrick Coyne of Havana; her mother, Shirley Southard of Blountstown; her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Jackie Southard of W. Monroe, NY; her mother-in-law, Betty Matera of Syracuse, NY; two sisters-in-law, Linda Podsaid of Miami and Mary Ellen O'Keefe of Rochester, NY; and her aunt, Lois Potter and her cousin, Donna Stevens, both of North Port, FL.
She was predeceased by her father, Steve Southard of Tallahassee; her father-in-law, Raymond Materal of Syracuse, NY; and her uncle, Dutch Potter of North Port, FL.
A memorial service will be held May 5, 2012 and arrangements will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Faith Funeral Home of Havana was in charge of arrangements.
