Biography

Patricia Elaine Hallett Wilkinson

Pat went to be with her Lord on the morning of September 27, 2010. She will be greatly missed by those of us left behind but we know we will see her again one day when we make that journey. Pat was born in Swampscott, Massachsetts on March 6, 1926. She was the daughter of Harmon Hallett and Madeline Bagley Hallett. Her sisters, Virginia Manthey and Helen Kelley, pre-deceased her, along with one great-grandson, Dillon. She married James Ralph Wilkinson, a Marine just home from World War II, who pre-deceased her in November 2002 after more than fifty years of marriage. Together they raised nine children in Ft Lauderdale and then moved to Havana to set up Historical Bookshelf Ltd. Both James and Pat had a lifelong love of books and Pat had operated the Liberty Bell Bookstore and American Opinion Bookstore in Ft. Lauderdale. James and Pat were both proud lifetime members of the John Birch Society.

She is survived by nine children:Tracy (Mark) Trask, Leslie (Ron) Coleman, Kathy (Bob) Ferrell, Robert (Ruth) Wilkinson, Victoria Beck,
Randi (Hank) St Denis, Donald Wilkinson, Kelly (Keith) Ling, Penelope (Paul) Harrison, and 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory. She is also survived by her brother, Harmon Hallett and sister, Betty Philpot. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews and their families whose lives she touched.

Pat was a self-educated woman who when she became interested in a subject, researched it 100%. Next to her faith in Christ, and her love for her family, she loved her country. She knew her Bible and her Constitution and helped others who were interested to understand both. She was a true patriot and anyone who knew her, marveled at the wisdom she had acquired over her lifetime.

Her funeral service will be held at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church on Gadsden Street in Tallahassee at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 2, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pat's name to JBS in Appleton, Wisconsin, Chalcedon Foundation in Vallecito California, or the Women's Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tallahassee. Internment will be at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Friends and family may share memories of Pat and leave condolences at www.patwilkinson.com. Faith Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements (850-539-4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com )
