Mitcheal (Mike) Spernak, 77, a longtime resident of Quincy, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, Oct. 19, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
The service will be held Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Quincy, Florida. A visitation will be held one-hour prior at 10:00am. Faith Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements (850.539.4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com)
Mike was born July 16, 1940 in Fair Haven Vermont to the late Michael Spernak and Vina Ritchie. He served his country in the US Army, retired as a detective from the Burlington Vermont Police Department, and was a longtime employee of the Capital City Bank Group. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and took great pride in these hobbies.
Family was the most important thing in Mike's life. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Margaret (Peg); daughter Joan and her husband Paul; daughter Diane and her fiancé Charles; grandson Wesley; granddaughter Aimee and her husband Adam; great granddaughters Olivia, Elizabeth and Riley; great -great granddaughter June; brothers Gordy and David; sisters Nora (Pip), Veda, and Debbie; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Mike was pre-deceased by his step-father Gordon and his grandson Michael.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike's memory to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, 620 South Meridian Street, Tallahassee FL, 32399.
