Biography

Mary Rymes Bess, 54, of Havana, passed away Sunday morning
October 5, 2008. Beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother and friend,
Mary was born in Colville, Washington.
Since moving to Havana with husband Bill in 2002 from San Francisco, Mary has become an integral part of the Havana community.
A registered cardiac nurse employed at Capital Regional Medical
Center, Mary had been a nurse for 25 years. Mary and Bill met in
church in 1990 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, when Mary sang soprano in the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church choir. They married in 1996. Mary, a Presbyterian Deacon, continued her choir service at Havana's First Presbyterian Church where Bill serves as pastor. She taught Sunday School at First Presbyterian. She also had sung with the Tallahassee Civic Chorale since her arrival in North Florida. Mary was a volunteer reader at Havana Elementary and participated in the I-CAN education program.
Mary is survived by her husband, Reverend Bill Bess, her parents,
Ervin and June Rymes of Georgetown, TX, and her brother and sister-in-law Gerry and Penny Rymes, of Georgetown TX. She was a loving stepmother to Scott and Christie Bess of Denver, CO, and Kendra and Greg Orndorff of Phoenix, NM. She is also survived by grandchildren Bradley, Kayla and Tristan Orndorff and Michael and Matthew Bess.
Additional survivors include sisters-in-law Dorothy Wyatt of Oklahoma
City, OK, and Mary Selby and husband Tom, of League City, TX.
Mary belonged to several nursing associations in the U.S. and
recently took up pottery classes at Light N Up Art Co-op, selling
some of her pieces at Magnolia Café© in Havana. She had an abiding
love for music, playing the guitar, and she dearly loved animals.
The Memorial Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at
Havana First Presbterian Church. Family will receive friends Friday
from 6 til 8:00pm at the funeral home.
