Marshall Eugene Crum, 78, of Havana, FL passed away on February 26, 2021 at his residence.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday March 5, 2021at Tallahassee National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 6 until 8:00 PM at Faith Funeral Home Chapel (850-539-4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com )
Mr. Crum was born on August 17, 1942 in Brooksville, FL the son of the late Eugene D. Crum and Hilma (Boyd) Crum.
He was graduate of Hernando High School in Brooksville, FL and The Florida State University.
After graduating college, he joined the Air Force. He went through his undergraduate pilot training at Reese AFB, TX, upgrade training at Davis Monthan AFB, AZ before becoming a squadron pilot flying F-4C's with the 91st TFS, RAF Bentwaters, England in 1966.
He then served in Vietnam and flew 179 combat missions with the 559th TFS, Cam Rahn Bay, RVN. During this time, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, AM with 13 OLC, and became a member of the River Rats.
Upon return from Vietnam, Mr. Crum became a T-38 pilot instructor at Moody AFB, GA. He separated from active duty with the rank of Captain in 1971.
Mr. Crum was a member of the Air Force reserve as a SFROTC and USAFA Liaison officer and achieved the rank of Major.
Mr. Crum owned and operated Crum Well Drilling in Brooksville, FL from the 1970's until his retirement in the 1990's. During this time, he was a member of the National Water Well Association, and The Florida Water Well Association. He was elected and served as president of The Florida Water Well Association.
Mr. Crum was active in many veterans’ groups and an avid outdoorsman and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years Alice Kay Crum of Havana FL; two sons Fred Crum of Brooksville, FL and Brian Crum of Tallahassee, FL. One brother Max Crum of Cuthbert, GA. Five grandchildren Hazel, Brandon, Christopher, Matthew, and Jasper.
