Marilyn Strange

Biography

Marilyn Meissner Strange passed away on November 11, 2011 in a tragic automobile accident in Leesville, Louisiana. Marilyn was loved by her family, friends and associates.

Marilyn was born in Perry, Florida May 20, 1959. She graduated from Taylor County High School in 1977 and then graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in finance.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Jim Strange of Havana, Florida - her sons Robby Strange of Birmingham, Alabama, David Strange of Havana, Florida, Kevin (Caroline) Strange of Huntsville, Alabama; her father Robert Meissner of Perry, Florida; her brother Kenneth (Kathy) Meissner of Calhoun, Louisiana her sister Carolyn (John) Marty of Melbourne, Fl and an extended family of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother Stella Meissner of Perry, Fl.

Marilyn's greatest joy in life was taking care of her family. She was a loving wife to Jim and the greatest mother to her children. Marilyn's love for her family did not stop at her immediate family. She was a strong influence in the lives of her brother and sister, nieces and nephews and her extended family. She was actively involved in the youth group at Concordia Baptist Church for many years.

Marilyn's career in Finance and Accounting began at Buckeye Cellulose in Perry as a Cost Accountant. She continued her career at Coastal Plywood Company in Havana, FL as Financial Manager, then Moore Bass in Tallahassee, FL as Chief Financial Officer and was currently employed by Boise Cascade in Alexandria, LA as Southern Region Controller. Marilyn was passionate about her work and strived to perform her duties at the highest level. She was a mentor to so many that she worked with. Her accomplishments were staggering by any measure.

Many in the community will miss Marilyn and her loss will be felt deeply by all those that had the pleasure of knowing her. While her time here was too short her legacy of love, caring, devotion and faithfulness will live on in those that loved her.
