Lester Richard Dumas, 63, of Havana, Florida, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013. After his battle with cancer, he peacefully passed away at home surrounded by precious family members.
Les was born in Griffin, GA to the late Julian B. Dumas (Forsyth, GA) and late Colleen Jones Dumas (Hiawassee, GA). He is survived by his wife of 42 years Leralene Spillers Dumas; son Justin (Lesley) Dumas; daughter GinaMarie (David) Senters; two grandchildren Isabella and Holton Dumas; sister Peggy (Charles) Hollis; and step-mother Claudette Dumas.
He graduated from Lanier High School in Macon, GA and attended North Georgia Military College and Mercer University. His communications work in Tallahassee included WFSU-TV, WCTV, Florida State Dept. of Education, and for the last 17 years, he was employed with the Florida State Dept. of Corrections. Prior to moving to Havana, he was an active member of Celebration Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 1:00 at Freedom First Assembly of God, 2801 Thomasville Rd, Tallahassee, FL. The family will receive friends after the service at the church fellowship hall. Pastor Larry Perry will officiate.
