Biography
Leila Alene Nelson 93, went to be with the Lord on July 26, 2009.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Woodland Cemetery in Havana, with Dr. Eric Erskine and Pastor Bill Barber officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Faith Funeral Home. Family will receive flowers; however, those wishing to make memorial contributions may do so to Big Bend Hospice 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
A native of Decatur County, Georgia, she had lived in Havana since 1940. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Her hobbies included fishing, playing cards, gardening and crocheting. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family members and friends and spending time with them at her home.
She is survived by a son, Gerald Nelson (Marcia) of Havana; two daughters, Shirley Revell (Jimmy) of Greensboro and Martha Ann (Eugene) Moore of Havana; seven grandchildren, Gaye Califf (Wayne), Jerry Nelson (Teresa), Ricky Cannington, Tony Cannington (Carol), John Revell (Debbie), Jimmie Lynn McClellan
(Casey) and Jeff Moore (Kathy); 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, daughter, Betty Jean Cannington and great-grandson, Marty Church.
