Biography

Lawrence Edward Kelly passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at home.

He began life November 21, 1926 in Gadsden County, FL. as the oldest son of Sara Olive Perkins Kelly and William H. Kelly who preceded him in death.

Lawrence attended school in Hinson School, Havana High School and received his High School Diploma from Leon High. Mr. Kelly was a veteran of World War II, serving in the occupation of Germany. Lawrence retired from Florida State University as a maintenance supervisor.

He enjoyed fishing and shared his love of fishing with his nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Grandpa" or "PeePaw".

Lawrence is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eris Virginia Poppell Kelly of Havana, his brother Harold (Johnnie) Kelly of Ringold, GA., his sister Betty Allbritton of Tallahassee, FL, a son Terry (Vicky) Kelly of Cairo, GA., daughter Teresa (Gary) Bartlett of St. George Island, FL. and a step son Larry (Kamala) Snow of Havana, FL.. He is also survived by grandchildren Carla , Justin, Laura, Austin and Meghan Kelly, Christie (Joey) Davis, Ryan (Ashley) Bartlett, and Brian (Erika) Snow and Whitney Snow. His great-grandchildren are Hailey, Emily, Aidan, Aubrey, Jason, Thomas and Gracie, Sy, and Brinkley. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

At his request, no formal memorial service is planned, but memorial contributions can be made to Florida Sheriff's Youth Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Faith Funeral Home in Havana is assisting the family with arrangements (850-539-4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com)
