Joyce Bates Padgett

Joyce Bates Padgett, 86 of Quincy, FL passed away on October 25, 2022 at her residence.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2022 at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Climax, GA.
Mrs. Joyce was born February 20, 1936 in Climax, GA the daughter of the late Mrs. Edna Bryant Bates and the late Mr. Clifford Bates. She graduated from Climax High School in 1953, but always claimed her, “Bell Dixon roots”. On October 17, 1956 she married Rex E. Padgett (Gene).
She was a woman of many talents. She loved to cook,  sew and was talented to make all of her daughters dresses until they graduated or Walmart.  She had a flair with flowers and owned her own florist shop for 5 years until her husband begged her to close and solely help him at the jewelry store.  She was a member of the Pilot Club of Quincy, she joined the Pilot Club on January 1,1978 was an outstanding member over 44 years.

Her love was greeting customers and working at Padgetts Jewelers!  She often said, you come in as a customer and leave as family.  On any day you were to come by, she would always ask, "Would you like to buy a diamond today?"

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Mr. Rex E Padgett (Gene) of Quincy. Her Children:
Tommy Padgett  (Marilyn); Kim Padgett; Beth Padgett; Mike Padgett  (Dorislynn); Clifford Padgett; Greg Padgett deceased  (Silva). Her grandchildren, Cliff Padgett  (Courtney); Rex Padgett; Lynn Padgett and Lynn's mom, Angie Padgett; Ande Andrews Clark  (Andrew); Wren Andrews  (Leah); Savannah Padgett; Blair Padgett. Her great grandchildren Wyatt Clark; Rose Clark and many loving Nieces Nephews and Cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a son and her brother Clifford Carlton Bates and his wife Geraldine Bates.
SHE WAS A UNIQUE WOMAN AND THOSE THAT KNEW HER CLOSE, KNEW SHE WAS A BUSINESS WOMAN AND A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH !!!
