Biography

Joy Marie Kent 51, of Havana, FL. went to live with our Lord on Tuesday, Oct 7, 2014 at Capital Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her husband, son and close friends.

The Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Oct 18, 2014 at Faith Funeral Home in Havana (850-539-4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com) Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Joy was born on Jan 11, 1963 in Amityville, NY to Hank and Phyllis Passette. She lived there with her three brothers and one sister until 1972 when the family moved to West Palm Beach, FL. She attended Sun Coast High School and graduated in 1980. She met and married the love of her life, Gary Kent in 1982. They lived in Port St Lucie until 1987 when they moved to Havana. She worked as a book-keeper for the family business. She gave birth to their son "Clayton" in 1989. Joy continued to work until 1994 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Joy was a fighter and did her best to beat the cancer. She then went to work with Sam's Club as a book-keeper until 2004 when the cancer returned. We were all blessed to have Joy with us for 10 more years.

Joy loved being outdoors. She enjoyed planting things in her yard and riding four wheelers with the kids. Her favorite was being with her husband Gary and son Clayton at the beach.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years Gary Kent and her son Clayton Kent of Havana. She is also survived by her parents , Hank and Phyllis (Church) Passette, two brothers Rick (Ingrida) and John Passette, one sister Sandy (Jim) Doty, as well as three nephews Rick, Philup and Mike and one niece, Brandy.

She is preceded in death by her brother Butch Passette.
