Joseph James Osterman, 97 of Havana died Monday, December 8, 2008 at his home. Mr. Osterman was born January 24, 1911 in South Range, MI. In 1929 he started his career as a messenger at the Bank of the Commonwealth in Detroit MI. After 47 years he retired as Vice President of the bank. In 1977 he retired in Florida, living in Tallahassee for many years and later settling to Havana.
He is survived by his wife Dortha Osterman, of Havana; three sons, James Osterman (and wife Katherine) of St. Clair Shores, MI, Alan Osterman (and wife Margo) of Bloomfield, MI, and Charles (Mel) Osterman (and wife Linda) of Howell, MI; a brother Rudolph Osterman of Reading, PA, and a sister Margaret Healy of Mt. Clemens, MI; Seven grandchildren; and Seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Charles, Peter, and George Osterman; and three sisters Mary Elso, Catherine Sudau, and Ann Mitchell. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Covenant Hospice at 1545 Raymond Diehl Rd. Tallahassee, Fl. 32308
