John "Bo" Wayne Parmer

September 1, 1940 — January 13, 2021

Tallahassee, Florida

John "Bo" Wayne Parmer, 80, born in Wetumpka, Alabama September 1, 1940 passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. He was a loving husband, father and grandad. He had many accomplishments, but nothing was more important to him than his family.

A graduate of Wetumpka High School in 1958, he later attended Southwest Community College in Summit Mississippi where he majored in music, played the trumpet and piano, and sang in a band called Fat Fitzgerald and the Playboys.

A proud veteran, he served in the United States Air Force quartet, and performed for President Kennedy and the first lady the day before his assassination.

A natural-born leader, he was often elected to head many offices such as director of the YMCA, president of his home-owners association, Athletics Director of Optimus Football League coach for 12 years, and he was the Florida Waterskiing Champion of 1960.

A passionate man of faith, he was youth director at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Clearwater, Fl. He sang in the choir there, as well as Fellowship Baptist Church, Northwood Baptist Church in Tallahassee and at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC.

Bo was a rare kind of man whom everybody loved, which was useful in his 20-year career with IRS in the Aircraft Department where he set records, won awards, and even became friends with some of his famous clients.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Raborn Parmer, son John Wayne Parmer Jr. Daughter Angela Parmer Sattes, Her husband Fritz, son Chad Earl Parmer, his wife Lea and five grandchildren: Chelsea Parmer, Destin Parmer, Sara Taylor, Stedman Sattes, and Kellum Sattes; brother Earl Howard Jr. " Bud", his dogs Bandit and Eva, and many nieces and nephews he loved.

He is proceeded by his father, Earl Howard Parmer Sr., mother Kathryn Kelly Parmer, and sister Dianne Parmer Smith

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Alzheimer’s Project of Tallahassee.

A graveside memorial service will be heal Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2pm at the Tallahassee National Cemetery
