Joan Turner Bridges

Joan Turner Bridges, 90, of Quincy, FL passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024 at First Commerce Center for Compassionate Care at TMH.

The celebration of her life will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private. 

Mrs. Bridges was born March 12, 1934 in Daytona Beach, Florida. The daughter of the late Franklin P. Turner and the late Tommie Bee (Smith) Turner. 

Mrs. Bridges had a strong character about her. She raised six children on her own. There were many obstacles in her life she encountered. She always seemed to overcome them. She put her children first in everything she did, and everything they did. After many long hours at work, she always managed to be at her children’s activities. She opened her house to all of her children’s friends and neighbors. Love always seemed to fill the house.  

Later on, she loved having her kids over for holidays. She prepared large meals and enjoyed every minute of time spent with her family. She enjoyed having her family and friends around. She could (and often did) talk to anyone.  

She loved outdoors, flowers and butterflies especially. She enjoyed anything FSU (and Alabama) and liked to watch the games on TV with her family. She used to paint and draw quite well. She loved animals and especially her pet dogs. 

She is survived by her children Dorthy B. McKenzie (Kenny), Aubrey B. Barnes II (Dawn), W. Franklin T. Barnes,  James B. Barnes (Sandy),  Joni M. Barnes, Kim B. Brandhuber and Tressa M. Bridges; 12 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, (and two great-grandchildren on the way). 

She is preceded in death by her husband Mickey W. Bridges in 2014, her son Neil G. Barnes in 2010, and her two sisters Phyllis T. Moody and Dorthy T. Mann.
