James Douglas Bonn, 79, of Crawfordville, FL, formerly a longtime resident of Havana, FL passed away on June 26, 2022 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Born in Lansing, Michigan on December 19, 1942, his family later moved to Clarksville, Michigan. He lived in Clarksville until he entered the United States Navy serving as an aircraft maintenance technician. He later graduated from the University of Georgia in 1972, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree. Jim moved to Bainbridge, GA where he began raising his children then settled in Tallahassee, FL in the late 70s. He was successful in his career in publishing starting with the Post Search Light of Bainbridge, then became a co-owner of The Havana Herald in 1972. He later purchased The Havana Publishing Company. In the 90s, he lived and worked in Havana and became a member of First Presbyterian Church of Havana. Jim and his wife of almost 37 years, LaDonna, recently moved to Crawfordville where they were enjoying retirement living. Jim is proceeded in death by his parents, L. June Crockford Bonn and Douglas E. Bonn, and grandson, Kyle. He is survived by his wife, LaDonna, and his children; Mike Bonn (Shannon) of Tallahassee, Kristen Bonn Donoian (Bob) of Fairhope, AL, Dana Caswell (Kevin) of Crawfordville, and Marty Reid (Janice) of Tallahassee. Seven grandchildren, Matt, Austin, Lindsay, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Parker, and Jacob. Four great grandchildren, Kaliyah, Bryce, Jaxson and Marlee. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 1 at 12:00 p.m. at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee. The family requests that all guests arrive at least Ten minutes early to ensure your spot in the line.
