Biography
James Alexander Maxwell, 65, of Tallahassee passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Big Bend Hospice House.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dennis Young and Pastor Greg Doss officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jimmy, the son of James Ladd Maxwell and Lucile Poppell Maxwell was born October 15, 1947 in Quincy, Fl. Jimmy was a member of Bible Believers Fellowship in Tallahassee. He served in the Florida National Guard. He retired in early 2013 from City of Tallahassee as a heavy equipment operator with the Streets and Drainage Department. Jimmy was an avid FSU football fan. He also loved NASCAR and fishing.
Survivors include his mother Lucile Poppell Maxwell of Havana, his companion Margie Smith of Tallahassee, a daughter Pheobe Singletary of Tallahassee, two " self adopted sons" Joey and Jamie Vickers both of Tallahassee. Three grandchildren Ashley Singletary, Brandi Singletary and Hunter Bell. Many cousins and close friends.
