Havana-
James Michael Long, 59 Analyst for the Florida Department of Environment Protection, died Monday July 17, 2006. The graveside funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) Thursday July 20, 2006 at Woodland Cemetery in Havana. The Family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 til 8 p.m. at the funeral home. James had lived in Havana for the past nine years after living in Texas and Missouri. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Havana. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
The Civil War was a large part of his life. He owned a replica war cannon, and often displayed and fired the cannon at community events He was a son of the Confederate Veterans, and a member of the V.V.F.W. he was also a son of Union Veterans.
He was active in the Second Harvest Food Bank, and won many awards for his dedication for helping feed the hungry.
Survivors include a daughter Jayme Lynn Long of Havana. His father James Long of Forsyth, MO. His mother Winonna B. Long of Springfield , MO. a brother Kevin Long of Springfield and two sisters ZoeAnn Long and Amy Long of Springfield, MO.
