Biography

James Lester Donaldson, 85, of Havana passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Westminster Towers in Orlando, FL. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Salem United Methodist Church in Havana with Pastor Gordon VanNamee officiating. Internment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana (850.539.4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com)

He was born February 13, 1925 in Savannah, GA. He was a U S army veteran serving in WWII. He met his future wife, Margaret Moore in high school and they were married in 1946 after his service in World War II. In 1954 they moved to Havana where he opened Donaldson's Rexall Drug Store. He was the owner/pharmacist of the store for 34 years until his retirement. He was active in his community, serving on the Havana Town Council for several years. He was a member and past president of the Havana Kiwanis Club and other civic organizations and was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. He was affectionately known as "Daddy Jim" by his family and friends and was loved by many. His sweet and gentle spirit will be remembered by all as a trademark of his life.

He is survived by his three children Dianne Schultz (husband Ray) of The Villages, FL ; Bob Donaldson (wife Karen) of Zellwood, FL; and Lynn Broadway (husband Dave) of Tallahassee, FL. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Robin Blackman, John Donaldson, Jim Donaldson, Bill Donaldson, Scott Donaldson, and Amy Donaldson and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret M. Donaldson, and his son James Lester Donaldson, III.
