Jack Travis Turner
Jack Turner, 77 of Tallahassee died Friday, December. 19, 2008 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee. His funeral service will be 11:00am, Tuesday December 23, at First Church of the Nazarene in Tallahassee, with a graveside service with Military Honors at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Jack was born August 30, 1931 in Mitchell County, GA. He served in the U.S. Navy for almost four years. On December 10, 1955 he married Dorothy Gillespie. Later Jack and Dorothy had three beautiful girls who he loved and cherished. Jack worked at Keenan Auto Parts in Tallahassee for many years. Later starting Turner Automotive, after many successful years he retired to play more golf. He was an avid golfer and member of Havana Golf & Country Club often playing three or four days a week. He also belonged to two different Tallahassee breakfast clubs where he learned and shared valuable information.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Dorothy (Dot) Turner of Tallahassee. Two daughters Debbie Turner of Mobile, AL. And Jackie Marston (and husband David) of Tallahassee. His son-in-law Justin Strickland of Havana. Two sisters Sylvia Akridge (and husband Edgar) of Pebble City, GA and Gwen Ruggeri (and husband Joe) of Chatham. VA. and a brother Don Turner (and wife Betty) of Pebble City, GA four grandchildren Jamie McCormick (and husband Ben); Nikki Mosley (and husband Philip); Hailey Marston; and Travis Strickland. Two great-grandchildren Mary Jane McCormick and Jada Larrivee. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him and ministered to him during his illness.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Sandi Strickland, a sister Shirley Clark and a brother John Turner.
