Gary Myron Barineau passed away on September 16, 2021 after an extended illness. Gary was born in
Tallahassee, Florida in 1952 and lived his entire life within Leon and Gadsden Counties and was the
descendant of North Florida early pioneers. He will always be remembered by family and friends for
his quick wit, laughter and generous nature. Before retirement, Gary was a residential home builder
and expert wood craftsman. He grew up living and working on his family’s farm, planting and
harvesting, tending livestock and enjoying the social activities that lifestyle provides.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Paul Barineau. Survivors include his three children:
Gary, Jr., Windy J. Barineau Norman (Robert) and Matt of Tallahassee; his mother Louise Harvey
Barineau; grandchildren: Olivia Barineau of Apalachicola; Brittany Lewis of Crawfordville; Kristyn
Ferguson; Kamryn Norman; Tyler, Emily and Brooke Barineau; ex-wife Cheryl Bodiford and
cherished friend, Margaret Shields, all of Tallahassee; brothers: Ivan (Mary), Roger (Linda), Steve
(Merle) and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial service will be held at Seminole Baptist Church on Mission Road, Tallahassee Florida on
Monday, September 27 2021. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. with the service to follow
at 11:00 a.m.
