Frieda Kabelac Ireland, 89 died Wednesday March 7, 2007 in Havana. A celebration in honor of her life is planned for 4 til 6:00pm EDT Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Miccosukee Land Co-op Community Center in Tallahassee.
She was born in Rochester, N.Y. on Sept. 4, 1917, the daughter of an Austrian father and German mother. She later lived in Detroit, Mich. Where she attended Wayne State University, earning her bachelor's degree in education in 1960, and her Master's degree in education in 1967. A political activist, she was a schoolteacher for many years retiring in Tallahassee in 1979. She was married to Paul Ireland until his death on Feb. 1, 2004. Frieda had a younger sister who preceded her in death several years ago. She had no children and leave no immediate family members.
