Biography

Dortha Hale Osterman, 85, of Havana, FL. passed away on Friday, November 2, 2012, in Tallahassee.

The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel, Faith Funeral Home is handling arrangements 850.539.4300/www.faithfuneralhome.com Family will receive friends Sunday, from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at Maplelawn Cemetery in Paducah, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Florida Chapter, 8382 Baymeadows Road, Suite 9, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Born on April 12, 1927, in Almo, Kentucky, Dortha was the daughter of Joseph and Dona Hale. She was retired from Western Union where she worked as an administrative assistant for many years. She was a resident of Tallahassee for many years, later moving to the Havana Golf and Country Club.

Survivors include a niece, Barbara Godsey of Madison Heights, MI; nephew, Steve Houston (Sune) of Brookport, IL; three great-nieces, Brenda Paye of St. Clair Shores, MI, Donna Hughes of Franklin, TN, and Susan Harville of Brookport, IL; a great-nephew, Timothy Houston of Franklin, TN; three step-sons, James Osterman (Kathie) and Alan Osterman (Margo) of St. Clair Shores and Mel Osterman (Lori) of Brighton, MI, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph James Osterman, a son, Sherburne Thompson and three sisters, Essie Graham, Frocye Hale and Lala Houston.
