Dorothy Jean Gillespie Turner, 82 of Tallahassee, FL. passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Big Bend Hospice House.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Dave Pullen and Rev. Hilton Gillespie officiating. Internment will follow at Tallahassee Memory Gardens.

Mrs Dorothy was born February 8, 1933 in Whigham, GA to the late Gratton Cosmo Gillespie and the late Mary Alta Edwards Gillespie. She graduated from Cairo High School in 1950. On December 10, 1955, she married Jack Turner. Later, she and Jack had three daughters whom she loved very much. She retired from the State of Florida as an administrative assistant, and also retired from The Junior League of Tallahassee. She was a faithful longtime member of the Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene. She taught and influenced many lives in her 50 years of being a Sunday School Teacher. She also served in many other capacities over the years at the church including serving on the Church Board and as Missions President.
She is survived by her two daughters Debbie Turner of Mobile, AL. and Jackie Turner Marston (husband David) of Tallahassee, FL, her son-in-law Justin Strickland of Havana, FL. Her brother Rev. Hilton Gillespie (Chris); sisters Evelyn Eubanks, Mary Poitivent, Loette Buerger, Emily Hickey. Her sister-n-laws Florence Gillespie, Shirley Gillespie, Shelia Edwards. Her grandchildren Jamie McCormick (Ben), Nikki Mosley (Philip) Hailey Marston and Travis Strickland. Great-Grandchildren Mary Jane McCormick, Jada Mosley, Debra Jean Mosley, Marley McCormick.
She is also survived by many beloved family members and friends who loved her and ministered to her during her illness.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Travis Turner, her daughter Sandi Turner Strickland, brothers William Gillespie, Earl Gillespie, Gerald Gillespie, Darwin Edwards, M.L. Forehand, and Ronald Forehand; sisters Louise Weiss and Callie Farrow; her step-mother Blanche Gillespie.
