Donald Aldridge Meadows 76, of Havana died at his home, Tuesday June 3, 2008 after a lengthy illness with brain cancer.
Funeral service will be at 11:00am, Saturday June 7 at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Quincy. The internment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with military honors. Pastor Grant Hignight will be officiating. The viewing will be Friday from 6 til 8:00pm at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana(850.539.4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com)
Mr. Don was born on December 30, 1931. He attended and graduated from Brinson High School in Brinson ,GA. He was the class Valedictorian. Mr. Don was respected and loved by his classmates. He was a US Air Force veteran. He was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church. In 1991, Mr. Don retired from the FAA as a Air Traffic Controller, Front Line Supervisor after 39 years of service. He worked at many airports in his career, he returned to Tallahassee to be near his beloved Seminoles. He was an avid fan of all Seminole sports.
Almost two years ago, June 16, 2004 he married Jeanette Sirmons Meadows of Havana.
He is survived by his children; two sons Barry Scott and William Allen Meadows both of Marianna, FL. One daughter Donna LaNelle Miller (and husband Tom) of Tallahassee. Two grandchildren Georgia Maria Miller and Ryan Thomas Miller One brother William (Bill) Steven Meadows of Florence MS.
He is also survived by Mrs. Jeanette's children; Don Sirmons (and wife Donna); Beth Hood (and husband Lamar); Pam MacManus (and husband David); Christie Hood and Danny Sirmons (and wife Traci) 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Clarkie LaNelle Coulliette Meadows and his three brothers Oren Lee Meadows Jr. Aurther Charles Meadows, and Glen Wade Meadows.
