Dixie Lee Tarr was born in Oskaloosa, IA February 23, 1937 to Bernice Siefert Tarr and Floyd Tarr. One of nine children, Dixie grew up in the post depression era which as with most people greatly affected her outlook on life.
After finishing 8th grade at Oskaloosa High School, Dixie lived a full life which included travel to Europe, Hawaii as well as much of the Western United States. She spent most of her years in Oskaloosa with a few years in North Carolina, Kansas, Arizona and California.
Anyone who knew Dixie knew she had a quick wit and had a library full of one liners. She we sure to tell you her point of view without sugar coating it. Her ability to laugh at the situation as well as herself served her well through her 86 years. Dixie enjoyed fishing, camping, baking and crochet. In her early years she relished travelling and seeing many of the world’s grandest locations.
Dixie had 5 children…Gary (Pat) Gibbons from Oskaloosa, IA. Terry Gibbons, Larrie (Lisa) Jemison from Havana, FL, Dewayne (Tammy) Jemison from Oskaloosa, IA, Loretta McCloud from Havana, FL. She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, seven siblings and one son (Terry). She is survived by her brother Don (Carla) of Oskaloosa, IA.
Dixie had 12 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.
