Biography

Cecil "Toby" Alton Bryan, 78, of Havana, passed away Friday July 30, 2010 at his home. His funeral service will be at 11:00 am Monday, August 2, 2010 at Faith Funeral Home Chapel in Havana. (850.539.4300 or www.faithfuneralhome.com ) Family will receive friends from 4 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, August 1,2010 at the funeral home.

Toby was born January 5, 1932 in Escambia County. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran. For many years he was a Regional Staff Manger for Life of Georgia Insurance Co. in Mobile, AL. In 1969 he came to Tallahassee to open Badcock Home Furnishing, which he operated until his retirement in 1989. Toby was an avid golfer. He was a member and a stockholder at Havana Golf and Country Club. He loved fishing and gardening. He was well know for his jokes and storytelling abilities. He was loved by all that knew him.

He is survived by his long time companion, Sue Porter of Havana; four children: Carolyn Hardgrove (husband Jimbo) of Quincy; Lela Brown (husband Keith) of Havana; Mark Bryan (wife Jennifer) and Russell Bryan (wife Nejline) of Crawfordville; eleven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother James Bryan (wife Pat) of Saraland, AL.; and one sister Shirley Blevins of Satsuma, AL.; and his close, special friend Minnie. He was preceded in death by Dorothy L. Bryan.
