Biography

Bloxham Lynn Lewis 79 of Quincy went home to be with his Heavenly Father on the morning of Tuesday, September 9, 2014 surrounded by his family. Lynn was born December 9, 1934 in River Junction, Florida to the late William Bloxham Lewis and the late Jimmie Eloise (McDonald) Lewis.

Lynn graduated from Gadsden High School in 1953, joined the U.S. Army, and served a tour of duty. After his military service he began employment with the U S Postal Service where he worked for seventeen years. During his latter years his health began to decline due to heart disease and he was forced to retire. However, he was able to continue farming, raising cows, and participating in 4-H activities with his children which he greatly enjoyed. He has served in many capacities with the West Florida Livestock Association and the Florida Cattleman's Association.

In 2002 his health worsened and he was placed on the heart transplant list at Emory University Hospital. He received a heart in October and a new lease on life. Lynn was blessed by God's mercy for approximately an additional twelve years of life. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, raising a garden, working his cows, going to FSU baseball games and being with his family and friends. He was an active member of First Baptist Church Quincy.

A loving husband and father, he is survived by his wife of 58 years Elizabeth Cox Lewis, sons Al Lewis (Anna); Andy Lewis and daughter Amy Lewis Powell (Rex). He is also survived by brothers Bernard Lewis (Annette-deceased); James Lewis (Roberta) and sister Olga Martin (John deceased); as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
