He lived with his beautiful wife of 30 years, Wilma Viorel, (Gigi, his butterfly), at Tapestry Lakeshore, where Papa occupied his time making daily visits to Gigi for “cookie time” and otherwise winning as the reigning King of Bingo. He is survived by his wife, Gigi, his daughters, Barbara Astler, and Brenda Jahn, her husband, Reggie Jahn, and his four grandchildren, Connor, Haley, Alexandra and Noah Jahn. He is also survived by his immediate family in California, his loving brother, Nicholas Viorel and his wife, Ofelia, his niece, Patricia Viorel McGee, her daughter, and his great niece, Madison McGee, his niece, Nicki Viorel Chang and her daughter, his great niece, Krista Chang, his nephew, David Lee Viorel and his son and great nephew, David Nicholas Viorel, and his daughter, his niece, Christina DeGuzman. Papa served faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War and will be honored with a full military service and laid to rest in Tallahassee National Cemetery on September 3, 2021 at 10am. Papa was a proud graduate of Michigan State, loved basketball, football and horse racing. He served faithfully as an usher and Deacon at Spanish River Church in Boca Raton, where he and Gigi lived for many years, enjoying their family and many friends made through their career in Real Estate. We are forever grateful to Big Bend Hospice who took wonderful care of Papa during his last months through health visits, prayer, and musical therapy. Papa would appreciate any condolences to be a donation to Big Bend Hospice who will continue to care for Gigi until her passing.
