Alton Burns Cromer

Alton Burns Cromer, 92, of Bainbridge, GA joined his Lord and Savior on March 15, 2025. Born in Royston, GA to Leona and Jack Cromer. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life of 72 years, Glenn Dora, one daughter, Janice Eakin (Mike) and one son, Bruce Cromer (Phyllis), his grandchildren Megan London (Ed), Brittany Varn (Blaine), Blake Carraway (Heather), seven great-grandchildren, his precious puppy, Allie, and countless family and friends. Al served in the U.S. Army and then worked at the FSU print shop. During this time, he realized that printing was the profession that he wanted and opened AC Duplicating during which time he was also a commercial and residential contractor and built a hunting camp in Bainbridge. Al’s next adventure was to open Decatur Fish Farm with his wife and son, where they distributed fish to many stores throughout Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. The catfish from his farm were delicious and folks would travel for miles to buy them. Years ago, their catfish were enjoyed by many at Havana’s Fire Department, Concord Volunteer Fire Dept Fish Fries, and ordered by Georgia’s Governor’s office for a fish fry. In 1997, Al transformed the hunt camp into a beautiful home for him and Glenn. Al was always a fisher and hunter, having won many awards bass fishing and he mounted many a bass and deer head. He was fortunate to have a hunt stand behind his house where he enjoyed walking to with his walker just this past hunting season to bag three deer. From a young age, Jesus Christ was the center of Al’s life and he lived it a way in which he felt was pleasing to God. Strong and loving until the end, a true gentleman, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. He will truly be missed. “You earned your wings Daddy; now you may have to let God be right some of the time.” Family request memorial donations to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or https://www.stjude.org
